Forest Care Village is a warm, family-feel home in the heart of Borehamwood, a short walk from Elstree & Borehamwood station. Following an extensive renovation, our communal spaces and bedrooms have been refreshed in a style inspired by hygge, the Danish idea of cosiness and contentment found in simple comforts and good company. Light-filled lounges, natural wood and greenery make them places to settle in and spend time together.
We offer nursing, dementia, residential and respite care, with nurses on hand 24 hours a day and particular experience in supporting people living with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. The home is purpose built, with 178 en suite bedrooms, a large physiotherapy suite, sensory gardens and a courtyard.
Our care starts with the person. Whether someone is with us for a short stay or a long-term one, every detail is tailored to the individual, and no one here is ever alone. We look forward to welcoming you to Forest Care Village.
Within our purpose-built centre, we have 178 bedrooms, all equipped with en-suites, as quiet, restful accommodation with the capacity to add personalised furnishings and possessions and any other touches that bring character, familiarity and home comforts into the space.
We provide a vast array of advanced and enjoyable facilities, from a large physiotherapy suite to a beautiful courtyard, sensory gardens, and areas reserved for music, entertainment, and social interactions. Our communal lounges are cosy and contemporary, with options to enjoy movies, guest entertainers or afternoon tea with loved ones and friends.
Activities, crafts and optional events are all provided in-house, with comprehensive support to encourage all our residents to participate, according to their wishes and tastes, with workshops, BBQs, garden parties and art sessions as a creative outlet.
Registered nurses are on duty 24 hours a day, supported by care team members who help with personal care and everyday routines. Every resident has a personal care plan, written with them and their family and reviewed as their needs change. The team has particular experience of supporting people living with acquired brain injuries, neurological conditions and Parkinson’s disease, along with stroke and physical rehabilitation in our large physiotherapy suite. We care for younger adults with physical disabilities as well as older people, and provide continuing, convalescent and continence care, and palliative and end of life care.
For residents living with dementia, familiar things matter. We keep to the routines people know, in a calm and secure setting, and encourage everyone to bring photographs, keepsakes and their own furnishings, so their room feels like theirs.
Every bedroom has its own en suite with adaptive bathing, and residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings and possessions, and whatever else brings familiarity and home comforts into the space. Beyond the bedrooms, there are cosy, contemporary lounges for a film, visiting entertainers or afternoon tea with family and friends, along with the physiotherapy suite, a beautiful courtyard, sensory gardens, and rooms set aside for music, entertainment and getting together.
Activities and a lifestyle that suits the person matter at every age and every physical ability. Our coordinators run a varied calendar of events, from workshops, art sessions and quizzes to barbecues and garden parties, and residents decide how much or how little they take part in. Beyond the home there is the park and the shops on Borehamwood’s high street, and we partner with Myley, a tour company that runs accessible day trips for people of all ages and abilities. Family and friends are welcome any time.
Mealtimes are an important part of the day at Forest Care Village. We work with apetito, a leading provider of meals for care homes, whose recipes are developed by chefs, dietitians and nutritionists. Meals are adapted to each resident’s likes, dislikes, dietary requirements and medical needs, including texture-modified and other special diets. The dining rooms look out over the grounds, and in summer our garden parties and barbecues take place outside.

All staff are fantastic. My dad enjoys the activities including the trips. I feel confident he is well looked after.
I have been well cared for, well-fed. My welfare is top of the caring ladder. I like the staff, they take time with me.
Extremely satisfied overall, the care, the food, laundry and activities are suitable for various residents. The home is generous in many ways to keep residents as comfortable as possible.
The staff treated us as family. They respected both ours and our mother's wishes and we can only thank them for this. Everybody went out of their way to ensure we have all looked after. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Moving into a care home is a big step, and we take it at your pace. Before anyone moves in, we meet them and their family to understand their nursing care, medical and personal needs, working with any healthcare professionals already involved, and use this to put a personal care plan in place.
People come to us in different ways: some directly, some through a hospital discharge team or social services, and some after a short respite stay. Whichever route, we talk through funding and the options openly, and our Advice Centre explains how care funding works.
We encourage residents and families to visit first, to look around the rooms and communal areas, meet the team and ask anything they like.
Rooms aren’t always available at short notice, so it’s worth getting in touch early if you think you may need one. Call the team at Forest Care Village, and we can talk you through availability and arrange a tour.
Here at Forest Care Village, we strongly believe that activities, enrichment and a tailored lifestyle are vital to health, well-being and happiness at every age and every physical ability. We are committed to ensuring every resident has the independence and autonomy to choose those activities or pastimes that bring them joy, routine and friendship.
Activities are a fundamental part of the Forest Care Village experience, and our coordinators carefully manage schedules and events to accommodate every taste. Many of our residents enjoy shopping trips, evening visits to the cinema, the social challenge of a quiz event, or catching up on popular TV shows in their private suites.
Every day is valuable, and we have a mixed and enthusiastic events calendar, from art and flower arranging to games nights, musical performances, celebratory parties, video games, and outdoor gardening to help maintain our serene and beautiful outdoor spaces.
Forest Care Village respects the right of every resident to practise their religious and cultural beliefs. We organise religious services and observances to ensure our extended family keeps touch with their culture and faith.
Our summer garden parties and barbecues are always a highlight, with delicious meals served al fresco in pleasant weather. Residents are invited to contribute to our association to introduce new ideas or inspiration for activities, events and themed celebrations.
At Forest Care Village, you’re never alone.
