Grace Manor Care Centre – Gillingham

Grace Manor is a beautiful period property set in extensive, mature grounds in Gillingham, Kent. Its bright, characterful lounges and sweeping dining room look out over landscaped gardens, and there is a secure patio garden for sitting out in the warmer months. It is a house with a sense of history, and a calm, welcoming place to call home.

Our long-serving nursing and care team is here 24 hours a day, providing nursing care and dementia care, along with palliative and end of life care, post-operative care and respite stays. There is no age restriction on our registration, so we welcome adults of all ages. People join us for a short respite stay, for a period of recovery, or to make the home their own for the longer term. Grace Manor was also the first care home in Kent to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation.

With 56 private bedrooms, many with an en suite, residents live together as one community, in the company of Simba and Nala, the Grace Manor cats. Every resident is treated as an individual, and visitors often tell us they notice the family atmosphere from the moment they arrive. We look forward to welcoming you to Grace Manor.

Nursing and Dementia Care, Day and Night

Our registered nurses and carers are here 24 hours a day, with medical cover from our GP. We care for people with complex medical needs, people living with dementia, those recovering after an operation or a stroke, and those needing palliative or end of life care. Every resident has a personal care plan, written with them and their family and reviewed regularly, so their care keeps pace as their needs change.

For residents living with dementia, familiar things matter. We keep to the routines people know, and encourage families to bring in photographs and belongings so their room feels like theirs. Dementia care is provided throughout the home, so residents live together as one community, and the same long-serving team gets to know every resident.

A Comfortable Home in the Heart of Medway

Every resident is encouraged to furnish and decorate their room to their own taste, with their own furniture, photographs and keepsakes. Beyond the bedrooms there are comfortable sitting rooms and a bright dining room, where residents come together for meals, welcome family and friends for afternoon tea, catch up on a film or the sport, or settle down for the visiting entertainers and musicians who are part of the weekly programme. There is a beauty salon in the home too.

Gillingham is a Medway market town, with parks, the waterfront and the shops close by, and days out on the Kent coast are a regular fixture. From gardening and art workshops to quiz nights and summer barbecues in the gardens, plenty is going on, and Remembrance Day is always marked by the whole home. Family and friends are welcome any time, and there’s a full calendar of events through the year.

Good Food, Adapted to Each Resident

Mealtimes are an important part of the day at Grace Manor. We work with apetito, a leading provider of meals for care homes, whose recipes are developed by chefs, dietitians and nutritionists. Menus are developed with our residents, and meals are adapted to each person’s preferences and dietary needs, including texture-modified diets, with help at mealtimes for anyone who needs it. The dining room looks out over the gardens, and in summer barbecues take place outside.
